Core themes
From Ghost Tour Guide to Ghost Behaviorist
Chris Bores tells Chance Garton the road ran about fifteen years, including five as a ghost tour guide, and that his first official investigation was the Mansfield Reformatory around 2006. He says a young girl's voice cut into an argument he was having over handing off a camera and said thank you, so crisp that, knowing how microphones work, she would have had to be standing beside him. The questions that followed, how she interacted and why a child was in a jail, pushed him past the ideologies that spread after Ghost Hunters arrived in 2004 and toward looking for a pattern the field insists is not there.
The 90 Minute Interview at the Lighthouse
Bores says 2012 was where he broke the mold, at the St. Augustine Lighthouse, a site famous for shadow people. Instead he reports a roughly ninety minute interaction with a teenage spirit named Eliza, obtained by saying something the thousands of prior ghost hunters had not, which he credits to studying the Tibetan Book of the Dead and Buddhist scripture rather than the standard Western approach. He asked whether spirits keep memories, feel new emotions and watch over loved ones, and says she pulled back from certain questions until she confirmed there are rules to the afterlife she could get in trouble for discussing.
Seven Spirit Types and a Karmic Tier System
Garton reads out the seven classifications from Bores's site: hungry, confused, stuck, helper, wandering, parasitic and destructive, and Bores says his book Ghost Behaviors gives each a chapter plus a psychological roadmap. Drawing on the Tibetan Book of the Dead, he describes six realms of the Samsara existence, among them the hungry ghost, jealous god and animal realms, with merit determining the return. He reads Genesis as a blueprint of frequency, vibration, light then matter, and Revelation's body of light as the next step, and argues from dybbuk exorcism records that hell is a process rather than permanent.
Sleep Paralysis as a Stage One Haunting
Doing house cleansings around Toledo, Bores argues sleep paralysis is not merely a medical event but the opening stage of a dark entity moving into a living space, feeding when you are least able to resist, which he compares to a spider injecting toxin. He lays out five stages, from taps and voices to slams, scratches and abduction dreams, and links the alien and the demonic by mindset and vibration. He says an alcoholic father and chronic nightmares marked his own teens and twenties until he blessed his house. Garton counters that his own episodes resolved into out of body experiences.
Clutter, Mantras and the Cluttered Psyche
For remedies Bores points to repeated prayer and mantra, naming the Golden Lotus Prayer, Om Mani Padme Hum, and the Our Father, alongside the Ten Commandments and Buddhism's eightfold noble path as vibration keeping codes. He says the devil loves clutter because clutter is chaos, and that mental clutter works the same way. Citing psychoneuroimmunology, the bond of mind, emotions and immune system, he argues the immune part is lost at death and replaced by what he calls afterlife energy, so a cluttered mind projects its own realm. Garton presses on moving from blame to personal responsibility in addiction.
