Core themes
From A Tick Bite To A Light Protocol
Jackie Jolie tells Chance Garton how a tick bite and a Lyme diagnosis three years earlier pushed her off the conventional path. She works on horses for a living and had always considered herself healthy. After a month of her own research she chose not to follow the standard protocol, used Dr. Steven Buhner's herbal protocol instead, and worked with a naturopath on her gut and mitochondria. That naturopath also mentioned light and getting out in the sun, though she says it did not land for her at the time.
Why She Bet Everything On Free Sunlight
Her trainer Jim Laird pointed her to Dr. Jack Kruse, a New Orleans neurosurgeon who she says has spent nearly two decades teaching quantum health. Jackie admits much of the physics goes over her head, but the practical promise landed. She had been spending roughly five thousand dollars a year on supplements, gut tests and blood work without ever feeling optimal. Being cheap, as she puts it, was one of her biggest drivers. Sunlight costs nothing, so she got off the supplement train, gave the light train ninety days, and two and a half years later has not stopped.
What The Sun Actually Does Across A Day
Jackie walks through the full spectrum using the grade school rainbow, red through violet. Sunrise and sunset deliver red, orange and yellow, which she calls the same healing wavelengths sold back to us in infrared saunas and anti aging lasers. Once the sun climbs past thirty degrees the blue, green, UVA and UVB arrive, which she credits with building vitamin D and sexual hormones and naturally lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. Morning red light, she says, builds a solar callus, a natural SPF. In her view modern people skip that entirely, burn once a year at the beach, spray on sunscreen, and then blame the sun for cancer.
Circadian Clocks And The Case Against Blue Light
Every system in the body runs on a clock, Jackie explains, and the master clock sits behind the hypothalamus in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which she says takes its signal only through the retina. In her account, sunrise light with no sunglasses and no contacts raises cortisol, blood sugar and hormones on schedule. Fire, candles and incandescent bulbs emit no blue, so they never disturbed our ancestors. LEDs, fluorescents and phone screens, she says, emit blue alone, telling the body it is noon at eight at night. Jackie says that is why athletes who eat well and train hard still end up tired and pre diabetic.
The Sun As Son Of God And The Spiritual Return
Raised in a strict Christian home she ran from, Jackie now says the sun is literally the son of God, and that the Bible reads as astrology told as story. Chance Garton runs with it, describing the sun as a fractal creator one step down from source, and connecting Christos, Krishna and the black sun to the light carried inside the body. Jackie credits a Tulum beach trip with downloading her idea for an animal light therapy device. Chance ties her gut and hormone results to Qigong organ clocks he learned from John Monroe, and to grounding and cold exposure.
Quotes
“But the truth is light has been the medicine from the ancient past to the present day. Just think of all the words that are associated with health or healing or good things that actually have the word heal in it. And is that not the ancient name for the sun, Helios?”
“As far as what I think the sun is, that has gotten really interesting. I actually think the sun is the son of God. There's been some different people on podcasts talking about that the Bible is actually kind of like a storytelling book that actually comes straight from our astrology and the stars, as they would.”
“And then like whenever we think about bringing the sun into ourself and how the word Christos refers to black, actually, and so does Krishna and the black sun or the hidden sun and all that occultic symbolism. I think that's referring to the light of the sun or the source inside of you.”
“We never build that solar callus. And we might go to the beach once or twice a year. And we're out all day long. We burn the shit out of our skin. We're spraying ourselves with cancer causing sunscreen. And then we're able to blame the sun for cancer instead.”
“The blue light at night is making you more tired, more sick, fat and pre-diabetic before you even know what you've eaten. Like you can get away from the blue light and have a donut every now and then and you're going to be fine.”
“And so we want to expose that gut to that morning and afternoon and the UVB light. If you have to go sit on a chair outside of your work office and raise up your shirt a little bit, you got to do it.”
“But everything you just described is so radical by modern standards, but sensible and logical and not even slightly strange by natural standards.”
