Mike Wann | Syncromystic Storytelling: A Thirty-Three Night Cross Continental Adventure

The original Susquehanna Sage, Mike Wann, returns to InnerVerse! Last month I was blessed with an in-person visit with the uniquely mystical man himself, as part of his coast-to-coast magical summer roadtrip. As we've come to expect from Mike, his journey is riddled with, well, riddles, as the events in the media and his own divergent discoveries meshed together in a fractal expression of the great cosmic script of consciousness. In this episode, the master story-teller will unpack some of the mysteries he uncovered on his path from Pennsylvania to California and back.

What Synchromysticism Actually Means

Chance Garton opens by admitting the word synchromystic gets thrown around without definition, then quotes a description of it as part artistic practice, part metaphysical system and part conspiracy culture. Mike Wann breaks the term in half. The mysticism is the baseline conviction that everything is one big ball of wax with nothing sitting outside the whole. The synchronicity half is the practical use of meaningful coincidence as a compass for navigating reality. His personal flavor adds pop culture, especially film, and casting yourself as the main character in your own unfolding story.

2

Conspiracy As Training For The Mind

Mike Wann defends conspiracy research not as a body of facts but as a curriculum. Because reality is a self fulfilling prophecy realm running on beliefs, and beliefs are ultimately narratives, the first conspiracy that upends what you were taught teaches you how flexible narratives really are. That flexibility is the skill worth keeping. He also warns about the failure mode he calls the James Shelby Downard spiral, the paranoid conviction that everything is connected and everyone is out to get you. He defends Wikipedia too, as a fast map of what the collective is meant to believe.

3

Chronos, Kairos And The 33 Nights

Chance Garton introduces the two Greek words for time. Chronos is measured clock time, which he calls fake, and Kairos is subjective time measured by your own development. Mike Wann says the 33 nights on the road felt far more expansive than a month at home doing the same things, because physical distance and novelty stretched his memory out of alignment with the calendar. He tracks time by the moon and by his starboard ceremonies instead. Chance suggests the dilation of time is driven by story, and that novelty is how you jump the fence on Chronos.

4

The Freemason Talk That Killed Mike Wann

In December 2021 Mike Wann was invited to present his Susquehanna research to a lodge of Freemasons near Philadelphia. He found six encoded links between the invitation and his own presentation on the Kobe Bryant helicopter crash, including the date and the location tied to Bryant's high school. Rather than back out he told the drunk room that this was an initiation between himself and the universe and that they were his witnesses. The next day his relationship and his settled life collapsed. Chance Garton reframes it plainly, saying the Mike Wann of that moment was the sacrifice.

5

Rivers, Forrest Gump And The Arrow

The trip began ceremonially, with three bottles of Susquehanna River water poured into every major river along the way and local water collected in exchange. Then Hollywood started answering back. Santa Monica Pier on July 4th put them in Richard Kelly's Southland Tales, a Bubba Gump meal seeded Forrest Gump, and the Madrid anthracite coal that fed Los Alamos landed them there the weekend Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer opened. Mike Wann ties it to Peter Kingsley's book A Story Waiting to Pierce You and Abaris the arrow circulator, and to the arrow he built ten years earlier without knowing why.

“Synchromysticism has been described as part artistic practice, part spiritual or metaphysical system, part conspiracy culture and all these components are true. It seems that at the intersection of curiosity and creativity, we can somehow crack the windows into a more pleromic level of existence.”
“Mystic is an understanding of the interconnectedness of all of life and all of reality, but then utilizing synchronicity or, you know, I guess like the common definition would be a meaningful coincidence as a compass in order to navigate reality.”
“To me, that's why conspiracy is so important is like it really trains the mind to begin to look at narratives, to question narratives, to see how narratives can literally change experiential reality to extreme degrees.”
“And I really like to point out that in Greek, there's actually two words for time, Chronos being measured time that we go by the clock, the movement of luminaries, but then Kairos is subjective time, spiritual time, the time that is measured by your own personal development in a sequential way.”
“And I'm like, what's happening is an initiation between me, Mike Wann and the universe, whoever the universe may be. And you as Freemasons are the ultimate symbols of initiation and you are my witness.”
“But the reason why astrology works is because the heavens are our unifier because we all get to see the same moon. We're all under the same sky. We don't all get to see the same river. We don't all get to see the same mountain but we see the same sky.”
“And because of that, like, you know, I think that that might actually be the root and the foundation of the entire expansion principle that our economic system is based on. Like the infinite growth paradigm that debt works on is like, you know, when you're in that measured time reality, it's always running out.”
“And the idea behind that is like, yes, we're always part of the same like big ball of wax where there's never a moment you're not integrated with reality.”

Tippecanoe Herbs

Kyle and Serena Denton are community herbalists creating wild-crafted and organic plant medicines out of Milwaukee since 2015. I have used their teas and tinctures on an almost daily basis for years now. Kyle is a great friend of InnerVerse and has appeared on the channel more times than I can count. These products work, not in the allopathic "pharma-medicine" way, but in a terrain-support, consciousness bolstering plant-teacher sort of way.
