Core themes

5 themes
1

Astrology as a Story We Live Inside

Chance wonders aloud whether the twelve houses and their fixed order act as an archetypal script the collective runs on, so that a different story might produce different lives. Chaney jokes that meeting ten unpleasant Scorpios would sour anyone on the sign, and the talk turns to Scorpio's older identity as the eagle, the scorpion to eagle to phoenix life cycle she has heard of, and Aquila sitting oddly in fixed water. Starting from a blood moon eclipse on the Cosmic Keys calendar, they treat the sky as a precise clock whose meanings may have been corrupted, like a game of Chinese whispers, over countless retellings.

2

Heartbreak and the Expansion of God

Asked for her cosmology, Chaney offers a philosophy she heard the night before: perhaps we reincarnate until we learn to love God, and so ourselves. In her view every person, book, song and religion holds a puzzle piece, and living authentically with discernment, love and joy expands God, whom she pictures as lonely and waiting for companions. She describes the heart as glass that shatters and rebuilds bigger, so sorrow teaches how much we love. Chance adds the Sanskrit anahata, the unstruck heart, and Khalil Gibran's lesson that joy needs sorrow, arguing that repressing parts of ourselves shuts off mindfulness.

3

Loosh, Outrage and Where Energy Goes

Chaney says talk of loosh means little until you observe yourself, noticing when one sentence flushes your face or raises the hair on your neck. She asks why people took Will Smith slapping Chris Rock so personally, describing fake outrage where onlookers are angrier than the victim and suggesting people locked in for two years got hooked on righteous indignation. Chance defines loosh as life force drained through self-harming emotional states and wonders whether, rather than archons, it is nature filling a void, scavengers like buzzards at roadkill. Chaney likens that to the yeast cleanup crew that flavors beer, and recommends grounding, meditation, exercise or a punching bag.

4

Tears, Time Travel and Your Younger Self

Chance asks what finally uncorks a buried grief, and whether a Hollywood film can mirror it enough to bring a good cry. Chaney says tears usually come through talking, when a friend's question links an old childhood story to present behavior. She suggests going back in meditation to sit beside your younger self, saying what an adult should have said, then letting that child hug you back, since the child would probably be proud of who you became. Chance plans to take a recent journal entry back that far, and Chaney uses the fading photograph in Back to the Future to picture future selves reaching back to help.

5

Winners' History and the Right to Gather

Chaney pitches a podcast called Losers' History, arguing that conquerors absorb or bury the gods, goddesses and symbols of the peoples they defeat, and the pair wonder whether world religions look alike because they were rolled into one conquering paradigm. They doubt the textbook caveman story and weigh a perfected human origin instead; Chaney says the Grand Canyon looks mined to her, and a Velikovsky style idea of electrical scarring is also raised. Chaney describes Cuban American friends whose families could not worship in Cuba and now embrace every religious symbol, which leads into the view that the Second Amendment exists to protect worship and gathering.

Quotes

“What if you get reincarnated until you learn how to love God? And if God is in turn you, and you are God, what if you're reincarnated until you learn how to love yourself?”
“Worldview warfare is really what all of those narratives are for: get us to harm ourselves by harming our perspective of what we are in the world we live in.”
“I feel like you kind of need this sorrow and grief and loss to understand how much you love.”
“I think what shut off our mindfulness is the repression of parts of ourselves we were told we were supposed to repress.”
“Would your little kid self be so stoked at the adult you are? I bet they would.”
“There should be a podcast called Losers' History, and it should just be real history that the losers never got a chance to write.”
“Setting up some sort of ritual that you think is going to help you control something is really just helping you control your own insecurity about not having control over reality.”
“I call my show a project of projection. I feel like we're all just walking through life and deciding what mirrors to put in front of us.”

Tippecanoe Herbs

Kyle and Serena Denton are community herbalists creating wild-crafted and organic plant medicines out of Milwaukee since 2015. I have used their teas and tinctures on an almost daily basis for years now. Kyle is a great friend of InnerVerse and has appeared on the channel more times than I can count. These products work, not in the allopathic "pharma-medicine" way, but in a terrain-support, consciousness bolstering plant-teacher sort of way.
