Two Lineages, Two Kinds Of Cultivation

English says he trained under two lineages and has just become a disciple under a third, and he untangles what the modern world lumps together as qigong, neigong and neidan. The first branch, which he calls jing jin or muscle tendon changing neigong, works with acquired or post birth chi and begins by condensing energy in the lower abdomen through reverse abdominal breathing, a method he credits to a Buddhist kung fu family and to Shaolin disciple Chief Misan and Grandmaster Golin. The second branch, spirit cultivation, he contends was deliberately kept out of books, leaving Western readers only the foundational jing, chi and shen material.

2

The Dantian, The Girdle Vessel And The Iron Body

English calls the lower dantian a bioelectric battery sitting in the center of the abdomen, and describes it as level one of the game. He points to the girdle vessel, a horizontal meridian circling the waist, and to the huang, the Chinese name for the fascia and the empty spaces between the organs, as what the chi mobilizes through, citing the old saying about separating the flesh from the bone. Later he argues a microcosmic orbit should be thick, shoulder to shoulder, and recalls Grandmaster Golin breaking bricks with his head as iron body attainment. Chance Garton compares notes as a Wu family qigong practitioner.

3

Yin Shen, Yang Shen And Spiritual Immortality

English describes the yin shen as the chi or astral body that most people never gather, dispersed like a cloud around the lower dantian and, in his account, unable to hold itself together after death without anchoring back into a human body. Yang shen training, he says, condenses and strengthens it until it takes the form of an embryo that rises through the crown, which he reads as the meaning behind the Buddha on the lotus. He states he has been through the process himself and is instructed to take it out only once weekly, twenty to thirty minutes, overseen by the grandmaster.

4

Embryonic Breathing And The Spiritual Pregnancy

English argues the belly on the Buddha is not allegory but a spiritual pregnancy available to men and women alike, formed from a person's own innate chi rather than another's seed, and he references the book Chi Kung Meditation: Embryonic Breathing on dual cultivation. He describes internal embryonic breathing as a respiration that does not run on inhale and exhale through the nose and mouth, the way one breathed in the womb, and contends that all breath work, yoga and neigong were ultimately aimed at activating it. Garton likens the role to becoming a placenta for your own next body.

5

Virtue, Religion And The Game Of Immortality

English frames what he calls a consciousness accretion process, distinct from animal death, and insists the energy work is worthless without a code of conduct, arguing that lust, anger and envy consume what has been gathered and that the church's deadly sins were really the law of the energy field. He describes his lineage's heavenly essence qigong as holographic transmissions from Grandmaster Zang, likens the Dao to Wi-Fi with a master as the signal booster, and says these teachings reached the West only after the Chinese Communist Party's crackdown. He closes on stadium spectators who know everything and never play.

Kyle and Serena Denton are community herbalists creating wild-crafted and organic plant medicines out of Milwaukee since 2015. I have used their teas and tinctures on an almost daily basis for years now. Kyle is a great friend of InnerVerse and has appeared on the channel more times than I can count. These products work, not in the allopathic "pharma-medicine" way, but in a terrain-support, consciousness bolstering plant-teacher sort of way.
