Slick Dissident | Archetypes of the Geo-Logos: Exploring the Tarot Cipher Map of US Territories
Gabriel, AKA Slick Dissident, returns to InnerVerse to explore his innovative Tarot-tories system, in which he has mapped the wheel of the zodiac and its archetypal symbolism to the geographical regions of the United States. In the first hour we discuss the value of this sort of symbolic study, and the basic layout of his cipher.

Core themes
Correspondence and the Both-And Mind
Gabriel opens with the second Hermetic principle of correspondence and says adopting a both-and perspective, where a symbol is this but also more, has sharpened his symbolic literacy. Chance adds that entertaining ideas we neither fully accept nor reject keeps us out of dogma. Gabriel links the Hermetic as above, so below to the Christian on earth as it is in heaven, calling both expressions of correspondence. Chance frames the system as a teaching tool, since the more linkages you hold the more you can recall, and he argues symbolic literacy strengthens psychic self-defense. Both stress that the map's borders stay fuzzy, like a late spring snow.
How the Tarot Territories Began
Gabriel traces the system to a conversation about the Moors in the Americas and the possibility of a black queen behind the name California, the golden califa. Since the Empress card belongs to Pisces, and Pisces falls on Southern California when he lays the zodiac on the map, he looked 180 degrees across the globe and found Tibet under Virgo, the Hermit's sign. North Korea, the Great Wall of China and Japan's long isolation followed, and months later he learned that the phrase hermetic kingdom is used for exactly those closed-off countries.
Laying the Zodiac Clock on America
Gabriel uses the 37th parallel as his equinox line, which he identifies with the Mason-Dixon line and ties to Civil War soldiers throwing away playing cards before death, to the Strait of Gibraltar, and to cannabis growers he says sourced Afghan seeds along the same latitude. The Mississippi River marks his solstice axis, and the signs run clockwise from Aries in the west. To explain cardinal, fixed and mutable signs he pictures the wheel as the hill of Golgotha, with Christ and the two thieves as three crosses, while Chance spots the ram of Aries sitting on mountainous Colorado.
From the Fool to the World Card
Gabriel places the Fool, card zero, outside the wheel at the Mississippi confluence near Kentucky, where he says all the waters fall, and reads Kentucky as the Portuguese caindo aqui, to fall right here; Chance adds the nearby town of Fulton as the fulcrum of the wheel. The Major Arcana then spiral outward in two layers, skipping Aquarius on the first pass as a child's innocence of the abyss. Virginia meets the Virgo Hermit, Augusta, Maine sits under Leo's Strength card, Chance pairs Texas with the Star, the Moon lands on Hawaii, and the World card crowns Canada near the Pole Star.
A Framework of Truth, Loaded With Lies
Gabriel's master thesis is that the map is a structural grid of fundamental truth, and he argues that those who understand it load that framework with whatever they want people to believe, feeding truth-starved audiences what he calls 50 percent truth. Chance says media and Hollywood have always worked this way, comparing it to baiting a rat with something edible alongside the poison, and he reads California's shape as mirroring Hollywood's merger of fiction and reality. Chance also stresses that neither of them claims a human mastermind drew the map, suggesting the patterns express archetype through the psyche, perhaps with unseen spiritual influence.
Quotes
“We are tale-telling creatures who see the same story in every territory. And it's our story, the hero's journey.”
“One thing that has helped me with symbolic literacy is adopting more of a both-and perspective, and the ability to say, yes, it is this, but it is also more.”
“One interpretation I have of the word Kentucky is, in Portuguese, the phrase caindo aqui means to fall right here. And that is very symbolic of the Fool card.”
“It doesn't have to be something literally factual to your mind to make it useful.”
“My master thesis is basically that this is a structural map or layout or grid of truth, of fundamental truth.”
“When you're a child, you have no idea that you're teetering on the edge of oblivion every moment of your life. You're innocent.”
“The zodiac is very important. It's very meaningful. And when you're a kid, you took it as a joke, but it's not a joke. It is pretty serious stuff.”
“We're talking about a spectrum of archetype and nature has a lot of wiggle room within this.”
