A Seven Minute Film Taken Slowly
Chance opened the first anniversary episode by saying the show had run 51 episodes in 52 weeks, then explained the plan: play I, Pet Goat II in chunks of fifteen to thirty seconds and pause at each scene change. Andrea supplied a slideshow of screenshots, and Joshua and the group traded notes from a shared Telegram chat. Gabe argued the film looked more predictive with 2022 hindsight. By the 2:45 mark the hosts noted that only about half the film had been covered, so the group agreed to schedule a second part with more preparation and more contributions from the chat.
Colors, Quarks and Alchemy
Andrea explained that she first noticed the opening title letters mixed capitals and lowercase and that some letters were red while others were white. She followed that into quarks and gluons, argued that the red letters turned gold while the white ones stayed neutral, and then offered an alchemical reading of red mercury becoming gold. She noted that many viewers link the film to CERN. Another participant argued that the hands appeared about twenty two seconds in and showed the number 22, pointing to the twenty second prime, 79, the atomic number of gold, which tied the hands to an alchemical process.
Gematria and Wordplay on the Title
One participant ran the film title through a gematria calculator across nine ciphers and read out matches, including 93, 39 and 33, and argued that treating the I as a numeral one produced a 33. An anagram linking pie and tau came up in the same stretch. The group also played with language: one speaker said the comma after the I echoed the word coma, and another argued that gospel meant goat song and that tragedy meant goat song too. A participant read Dylan Saccoccio's wordplay on potus and dunce, and connected it to the Scottish Rite and Duns Scotus.
Schoolroom Symbols and Chalkboard Clues
Across the opening scenes, participants listed symbols they spotted and offered readings. One said a barcode on the goat's forehead contained 666, another said the barbed wire pointed to a concentration camp setting, and others tied the three hearts to the tarot. A participant described the F equals negative F on the board as a physics reference and a personality scale. Another noted tape on the evolution chart. Joshua suggested the girl surrounded by twelve figures stood for the zodiac, while others read the high priestess card, a lily, a rabbit and a buck as markers of the year.
Serpents, Watchers and Constellations
A participant argued that the Hebrew word nakash meant serpent but also meant to watch intently, and others added examples from Greek and from the brass serpent story. Later, as the film showed the inside of the Statue of Liberty with a television and a serpent character, speakers compared it to a watcher that observes humans, and one noted the egg being candled. One participant shared a graphic of the constellations Argo, Canis Major and Columba and tied them to Saint Christopher and Columbus, expecting the next scene to build on them.

“So when I first was doing my first decodes of it, like way back in like 2015 or whatever, I had noticed that like all the letters, some of them are capital and some of them are lowercase, right? And it doesn't even kind of make sense.”
“So I found out about like these things called quarks and gluons. And so the quarks come in three colors, which is red, blue and green. And then gluons, they can be like a whole range of colors. So you do notice that they're changed to gold, all the red ones, but the white ones stay white.”
“But I also looked at it this time from an alchemical perspective would be like the red and the white, like red mercury and then into gold, obviously very common alchemical thing. I'm not like super into alchemy, but I did look into it a bit like before for something else. So there's a couple of different ways to look at it there.”
“I think it's been really interesting to see everybody's different little two cents on everything and definitely gives me some different ways to look at the other half. I'm really looking forward to doing the second half.”
“Later when we see the little girl sitting in the middle of the circle with the 12 figures around her that represent the zodiac in my opinion, we're also seeing some emphasis put on certain times of the year. So we can talk more about that later, but that could also be kind of an oblique reference to like the North Pole and the crossing.”
“I really don't know what I could say that can't be said better by just maybe showing the clip of Bush sitting in front of the kids. I mean, thank God it's still on YouTube. So we could kind of do that or at least share it in the chat with people.”
